Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Cornelis Ploos van Amstel/Cornelis Brouwer' after 'Gerard ter Borch'. Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was active as merchant in Amsterdam. He was an avid collector of art and invented a method of making prints after drawings from his own collection. Gerard ter Borch (also Terborch, 1617-1681) was a Dutch painter. He was a genre painter, also known for his portraits.
