Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Charles Howard Hodges' after own design. Charles Howard Hodges (1764-1837) was an English painter and engraver. He was probably a student of John Raphael Smith. He worked in Amsterdam and was a very famous portrait painter around 1800. His mezzotint engravings are of very high quality.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Kinsbergen.' - Portrait the admiral Jan Hendrik van Kinsbergen. Portrait of the Dutch naval commander Van Kinsbergen. Jan Hendrik van Kinsbergen (1735-1819), or Count of Doggersbank, was a Dutch naval officer. Having had a good scientific education, Van Kinsbergen was a proponent of fleet modernization and wrote many books about naval organization, discipline and tactics.
Condition: Excellent, given age. Large margins. Some foxing in lower margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
