Artists and Engravers: Made by John Smith after a 1701 painting by F.W. Weideman. John Smith (born 1652) was an English mezzotint engraver, who created around 500 plates in his lifetime. Friedrich Wilhelm Weidemann (1668-1750) was a German court painter to the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm I.
