Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Aart Schouman' after 'Adriaen van Ostade'. Aart Schouman (1710-1792) was active in Dordrecht, this multitalented artist made paintings, watercolours and prints. Adriaen van Ostade (1610-1685) was born in Haarlem and trained with Frans Hals. He remained in this city for the rest of his life and died here in 1685. Very influential artist, who had pupils like Cornelis Bega, Cornelis Dusart and Jan Steen. His etched work consists of 50 prints, all with genre subject matter.
