Description: Made in 1780, published in 1787. State: Second state of 2. Ref: LNP 43. signed in pencil on the back.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Cornelis Ploos van Amstel/Cornelis Brouwer' after 'Gerbrand van den Eeckhout'. Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was active as merchant in Amsterdam. He was an avid collector of art and invented a method of making prints after drawings from his own collection. Gerbrand van den Eeckhout (1621-1674) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and a favourite student of Rembrandt. He was also an etcher and poet, as well as a collector and adviser on art.

Subject: Antique Master Print, untitled. The botanist. Four men around a table inspect twigs of herbs while poring over a herbarium. Several other tomes are on the floor near the table while a fifth man brings in a large basket of plants.

Condition: Very good, given age. No margins, as published. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
