Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Willem Basse' after 'Johan Boeckhorst'. Willem Basse (ca. 1613-1672) was active in Amsterdam was influenced and is sometimes seen as a pupil of Rembrandt. In 1634 they both worked on illustrations for a work by Elias Herckmans: ´Der zeevaart lof.´ Basse did not always sign his work which caused it to be attributed to others like van Ostade, Bol and others.
