Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Crispijn van den Broeck' after own design. Crispijn van den Broeck (1524-1591), called Paludanus, was a pupil of Frans Floris. He worked in Antwerp and is known for his experiments with color woodcuts.
Subject: Antique Master Print, untitled. Christ in Gethsemane. Three apostles are sleeping in the garden with Christ praying in the middle. The soldiers arrive in the background.
Condition: Fair, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge. Remargined in the 17th. Century. Some paper loss in the left and lower right image edges, missing parts drawn in by hand. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
