Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Johannes Sadeler' after 'Michiel Coxie'. Johannes Sadeler I (1550-ca. 1600) was a member of the engravers family Sadeler. The Sadeler family were the largest, and probably the most successful of the dynasties of Flemish engravers that were dominant in Northern European printmaking in the later 16th and 17th centuries, as both artists and publishers. The Sadelers were descended from "chasers," engravers of armour, from Aalst. Michiel Coxie (1499-1592) was a Flemish artist. He painted and made designs for tapestry.
