Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Raphael Sadeler' after 'Christoph Schwartz'. Rafael II (1584 - 1627 or 1632), was part of the engravers family Sadeler. The Sadeler family were the largest, and probably the most successful of the dynasties of Flemish engravers that were dominant in Northern European printmaking in the later 16th and 17th centuries, as both artists and publishers. The Sadelers were descended from "chasers," engravers of armour, from Aalst. Christoph Schwartz (ca. 1545-1592) was a Bavarian courtpainter.

Condition: Good, given age. No margins, central printer's crease, left bottom corner slightly cut off, manuscript writing (Ecolo Varietisimo 1560?). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
