Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Willem van Leusden' after 'Hercule Seghers'. Willem van Leusden (1886-1974) originated from Utrecht. He worked in Maarssen. Van Leusden was a very versatile artist , who worked together with the surrealist Jopie Moesman. As a very gifted graphic artist, he was member of the graphic society De Luis. Van Leusden was obsessed by the etching techniques of Hercules Seghers, which he unraveled and applied. Hercules Seghers (ca. 1590-ca. 1638) originated from Haarlem and worked in Utrecht. As a landscape artist he painted and created highly experimental landscapes in print. His landscape-prints are seen as the most revolutionary prints of the Golden Age. The
