Claude Henry Watelet (French; 1718-1786) was a wealthy collector, amateur painter, well-respected etcher, writer on the arts and a connoisseur of gardens. He introduced the English landscape garden to France, as the jardin Anglois. Watelet was at the center of the French art world of his time.
