Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Bernard Vaillant' after 'Frans van Mieris'. Bernard Vaillant (1632-1698), together with his brother Wallerant and Jean came from France to the Northern Netherlands around 1650. They all made mezzotints. Frans van Mieris (1635-1681) was a Dutch Golden Age portrait and genre painter. He was the leading member of his family of painters, also including his two sons and grandson.
