Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Charles Phillips' after 'Cornelis van Poelenburch'. Charles Phillips / Philips (1737-1787) was an English engraver / publisher. He was employed by Boydell and worked after Dutch and Italian masters. He exposed at the independent society from 1766 to 1783. Cornelis van Poelenburch (1594-1667) was a pupil of Abraham Bloemaert. He travelled to Italy before settling in Utrecht. Poelenburch specialised in idyllic, classical landscapes.
