Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Pieter Schenck' after 'Godfrey Kneller'. Pieter/ Petrus Schenk / Schenck the elder (1660-1711/1713), a German engraver and cartographer active in Amsterdam and Leipzig. One of his specialties was the mezzotint. Sir Godfrey Kneller, 1st Baronet (born Gottfried Kniller; 1646-1723) was the leading portrait painter in England during the late 17th and early 18th centuries, and was court painter to English and British monarchs from Charles II to George I.

Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped close to the platemark. A small tear in left margin (closed with acid-free archival tape), old manuscript ink number lower right caption corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
