Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Nikolaas Verkolje' after 'Gerard Dou'. Nikolaas Verkolje (Delft 1673-1746 Amsterdam) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and pioneer mezzotint engraver in the Netherlands. Gerard Dou (or Dow/Douw, 1613-1675) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, specialised in genre scenes and his candle-lit night scenes.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Het Muijsvalletje.' - ('The Mouse Trap.'), night scene showing a son pointing at the mousetrap in his mother's hand.
Condition: Very good, given age. Full margins, two small stains in the margin edges. A dog-ear in the top left margin corner. Remains of attachment to carrier to the top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
