Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Johan Balzer' after own design. Johann Balzer (1738-1799) was a Bohemian active in Prague as a publisher and engraver. He was a student of Michal Rentz and several Academies in Germany. His sons Anton (1771-1807) and Johann Karl (1771-1805), who were both engravers, as well as his brothers Mathias and Gregor. His prints, especially after Grund were very popular.
