Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Thomas Rowlandson' after an anonymous artist. Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827) was famous for his satyrical prints. His loose and quick way of working was ideal for the depiction of all kinds of daily scenes. He was one of the great British etchers of satyrical subjects.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Master Billy's procession to Grocers Hall.' - Satire on the procession of William Pitt to the city to receive the freedom of the City. Sir Wattey, Master Billy and Sir Barney are named in the image.
Condition: Very good, given age. Large margins, some foxing and small stains in the margins. An old manuscript annotation ('Mr. Pitt') in ink in the lower margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
