Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Antonio Lafreri' after own design. Antonio Lafreri (1512-1577) was a publisher/engraver, born in France, who was active in Rome in the middle of the 16th. Century. He is best known for his publictaion of the "Speculum Romanae", a series of prints of the monuments of Rome. Between 1540 and 1580 he ran one of the most important printshops in Rome.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Augustinus afer divino ' - Portrait of Augustine of Hippo, seated at a writing table, receiving a vision of the Trinity.
Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge, with margin damage on the left side (reinforced on the rear with paper). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
