Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Gilles Demarteau' after 'Carlo Maratta'. Gilles Demarteau (1729-1776) was a French engraver. He worked closely with Fragonard, Van Loo and Boucher. He is credited with creating a new polychrome pencil etching process. Carlo Maratta or Maratti (1625-1713) was an Italian painter of the High Baroque period, active mostly in Rome.

Condition: Very good, given age. Paper edges a bit irregular. Damp stain in lower right corner, not effecting image. Light soiling and some browning. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
