Sons of the Silezian jeweler and engraver Bartholomaus Kilian, the first of a lineage of engravers and publishers. As their father died early on and his mother remarried with the Antwerp painter Dominique Kustos / Domenicus Custos / de Coster or Custodis (c. 1550-1612), they received much of their artistic training from him.
