Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Perelle' after 'Jan Asselijn'. This plate by one of the brothers Adam (1640-1695), Gabriel (c. 1603-1677) or Nicolas Perelle (1631-c.1695), French engravers / etchers active in Paris, specialized in classical landscapes. Jan Asselijn (1610-1652) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman of the Dutch School. He went to Rome and became a Bentveughel, under the moniker Crabbetje (little crab) as his fingers were so crooked he could hardly hold a palette.

Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins, remains of framing to the rear, some small stains in the margins. Faint vertical creases and a vertical line in the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
