Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Cornelis Ploos van Amstel' after 'Herman Saftleven'. Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was active as merchant in Amsterdam. He was an avid collector of art and invented a method of making prints after drawings from his own collection. Herman Saftleven (1609-1685), Dutch painter, engraver and draughtsman.
