Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Johann Nepomuk Strixner' after 'Annibale Carracci'. Johann Nepomuk Strixner (German 1782-1855), was one of the earliest lithographers. Educated in drawing and engraving he became a student in the workshop of the inventor of Lithography (invented c. 1796) Alois Senefelder and participated in the early experimenting and projects. He then became a professional lithographer helping to record famous Munich Museum collections. After being hired by the Boisseree brothers he was send to Paris to master the French development in lithography. Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) was a printmaker, draughtsman, painter and etcher born in Bologna.
