Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Samuel Prout' after an anonymous artist. Samuel Prout (1783 - 1852) was one of the masters of British watercolour architectural painting. Prout secured the position of Painter in Water-Colours in Ordinary to King George IV in 1829 and afterwards to Queen Victoria. Prout is often compared to his contemporaries; Turner, Gainsborough, Constable and Ruskin, whom he taught. He made several very popular sets of cityviews and landscapes.

Condition: Very good, given age. Large margins. Some faint creasing over the image. Soiling in the margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
