Description: Later 19th. Century impression of this famous plate. State: Fourth state of 4 Ref: NH 994 Peace treaty of 1648.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Wenzel Hollar' after an anonymous artist. Vaclav Hollar, known in England as Wenceslaus or Wenceslas and in Germany as Wenzel Hollar (1607-1677) originated from Bohemia and lived in England for much of his life. He was born in Prague, and died in London, being buried at St Margaret's Church, Westminster. His oeuvre is vast, but difficult to find in early impressions.
