Description: Originally engraved and published c. 1680. This engraving from an ed. published by John Boydell, titled "Collection of Portraits", ca. 1820. State: Only state. Ref: Undescribed.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Isaac Beckett' after 'Egebert van Heemskerk'. Isaac Beckett (1653-1688) was active as mezzotint maker and publisher in London in the last quart of the 17th. Century. He had a large publishing firm. Egebert van Heemskerk (1645-1704) originated from Haarlem. He moved to London, where he gained some fame as painter of genre scenery.

Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Betwixt a subtile priest & cursed wife …' - Man torn between a bad wife and bad faith.

Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins. Margins with overall light foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
