Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Anonymous' after 'Adriaen van Ostade'. With the address of John Smith (1652-1743) exc. Born in Haarlem in 1610, Adriaen van Ostade trained with Frans Hals. He remained in this city for the rest of his life and died here in 1685. Very influential artist, who had pupils like Cornelis Bega, Cornelis Dusart and Jan Steen. His etched work consists of 50 prints, all with genre subject matter.
Subject: Antique Master Print, untitled. The quack selling his wares at a fair. Some interested persons are gathered around his stand, and one buys the medicine.
Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins. Small faint foxing in the margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
