Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Cornelis Ploos van Amstel Johannes Körnlein' after 'Gabriël Metsu'. Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was active as merchant in Amsterdam. He was an avid collector of art and invented a method of making prints after drawings from his own collection. Gabriel Metsu (1629-1667) was a Dutch Golden Age painter born in Leiden. He was mostly known for his genre pieces.
