Description: Very interesting, last edition of a collection of the portraits by Mellan. Published in 1837 by Haniq in Malines.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Claude Mellan' after 'Mellan'. Claude Mellan (1598-1688) was a French painter, drafsman, etcher and engraver. He was active in Paris and later became court engraver. He invented a new way of use of the echoppe-etching needle . His prints show a high quality of linework.
