Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Gerard de Lairesse' after own design. Gerard de Lairesse (1640-1711) was a Dutch Golden Age engraver, painter and art theorist. Painter and etcher. Born at Liege, 1660 to Berlin, 1665 to Amsterdam; moved to The Hague around 1684.
Subject: 2 Antique master prints, untitled. Artemis, Niobe and two of her children. In the myth Artemis kills the seven daughterss of Niobe after Niobe boasts of having seven times more children than Leto, and thus being more deserving of worship.
Condition: Very good, given age. Small margins, some restorations, faint stains. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
