Artists and Engravers: Made by M. Schaep after Cornelis de Wael. Schaep was active around 1650. Not much else is known about him. Cornelis de Wael (1592-1667) was active as painter and art dealer. He stayed in Italy for a large part of his career. It is not clear whether he made prints himself.
Subject: Antique Master Print, untitled. Mediterranean harbour scene. Sailors (partly wearing turbans) filling and smoking pipes beside a fountain at water's edge.
Condition: Good, given age. No margins. Two tiny stains in the top margin. A faint spot in the top left corner of the image. Some scattered tiny stains. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
