Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Thomas de Leu' after 'Francois Quesnel'. Thomas de Leu / Leleu / de Leeuw / Le Loup (Flemish; b. Antwerp; 1560-1612) was active in Paris from 1575 in the workshop of Jean Rahel. He married a daughter of Antoine Caron. He was influenced by the Wierix brothers and was considered one of the most important portrait engravers of his time. Francois Quesnel (ca. 1544-1619) was born in Edinburgh. He worked as a painter to Henry III. Quesnel mainly painted portraits.
