Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jan van de Velde' after 'Hendrick Gerritsz. Pot'. Jan van de Velde (1593-1641) came from the southern Netherlands as a fugitive around 1600 to the Netherlands. His father was a writingmaster and Jan trainend as an etcher. He produced many highly important series of landscape prints. Hendrick Gerritsz. Pot (ca. 1580-1657) was a pupil of Karel van Mander. He worked in Haarlem and later Amsterdam.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Bernardus Paludanus [..].' - Portrait of the physician and collector Bernardus Paludanus (1550-1633). He is particularly known from his Cabinet of curiosities.
