Artists and Engravers: Made by 'The van Doetcum Brothers' after 'Hans Vredeman de Vries'. The Van Doetecum Brothers were active in Antwerp and later in the Northern Netherlands in the second half of the 16th. Century. Joannes van Doetechum / Deutecum / Deutekum / Deutechum the elder (c.1570-1630) was a Dutch 16th. c. engraver and editor from Deventer. He is the brother and worked with the engraver Lucas van Doetechum. He is the father of the engraver and printer Baptista van Doetechum and Johannes van Deutechum the younger. Hans Vredeman de Vries (1527 - c. 1607) was a Dutch Renaissance architect, painter, and engineer. Vredeman de Vries is known for his publication in 1583 on garden design and his books with many examples on ornaments (1565) and perspective (1604).
