Description: Rare, very nice early example of aquatint.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jan Evert Grave' after own design. Jan Evert Grave (1759-1805) was one of the early users of the new aquatint medium. He made some very fine examples with this new graphic technique. He was a well-known painter, draughtsman and engraver. Grave worked mostly in and in the surroundings of Amsterdam and was a pupil of the engraver J. Punt and of the draughtsman J. Cats.
