Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Dominicus Custos' after own design. Domenicus Custos / Custodis (c. 1560-1612) was a designer and engraver from Antwerp. He was the son of Pieter Balten / Custodis. From 1584 he worked in Augsburg, where he married the widow of Bartholomaeus Kilian and worked with Kilian's sons Lukas and Wolfgang. He had three sons: David, Jacob and Raphael, who became engravers as well.
