Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Francis Barlow' after own design. Francis Barlow (1626-1704): Known as 'the father of British sporting painting', Francis Barlow was an English painter and etcher specializing in animal subjects. In 1666, Barlow's etchings illustrated an edition of Aesop's Fables. He also produced paintings for decoration.
