Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jan van de Velde' after 'Pieter Saenredam'. Jan van de Velde (1593-1641) came from the southern Netherlands as a fugitive around 1600 to the Netherlands. His father was a writingmaster and Jan trainend as an etcher. He produced many highly important series of landscape prints. Pieter (Jansz.) Saenredam (1597-1665) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and printmaker. He became best known for his town views and church interiors (in which he proved his mastery of line perspective).
