Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Lucas Vorsterman I' after 'Adriaen Brouwer'. Lucas Vorsterman II / the younger (1624-c.1670) was a Flemish engraver, son of Lucas Vorsterman I. He was active in Antwerp and worked after Rubens and others. Adriaen Brouwer (1605-1638) was a Flemish genre painter, active in Flanders and the Dutch Republic.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Invidia. - Ik woed in anders spoed, hun voordeel ic benijd: Ic perss mijn eijgen mock, hoe wel sij mij beschijt.' - (I mix in others fortune, I envy their advantages: I press my own pig, although it defecates on me.) The sin of envy. Shows a man seated on an upturned barrel squeezing a piglet, that defecates. A snake winds around the man's cap. A knife is stuck into the table beside guts.
Condition: Very good, given age. ample margins. Margins a little soiled. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
