Description: Part of a series with the story of Jonah. State: Only state. Ref: Hollstein 146. Very good and early impression.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Crispijn de Passe' after 'Maarten de Vos'. Crispijn / Crispyn de Passe (Dutch; 1565-1637) was a very active printmaker. He started engraving in Antwerp and was later active in Cologne and Utrecht. Being highly active he and his family produced a large amount of prints, including a group of very finely engraved portraits. Maarten de Vos (1532-1603) was an Antwerp painter and draughtsman of the late sixteenth century. His travels to Italy made him adopt the Mannerist style. His designs were very popular and were followed widely.

Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Balat ovis mugit bos ipsis ad sidera tollunt.' - People, including the king, are gathered in the streets to pray. This scene is from the Biblical story of Jonah.

Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
