Artists and Engravers: Made by 'James Watson' after 'Francis Cotes'. James Watson (1740-1790) orginated from Dublin. He was a pupil of McArdell and mainly active as mezzotint engraver and publisher. Francis Cotes (British, 1726-1770) was one the most famous portrait painters of his day.
