Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Lucas Vorsterman I' after 'Anthony van Dyck'. Lucas Vorsterman I / the elder (Zaltbommel; 1595-1675) was a Dutch painter and accomplished engraver. He initially worked for Rubens, but parted after an argument. He was active in England from 1624-1630. After moving back to Antwerp his workshop had many students and he worked with his friend Van Dyck. Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641) was a Flemish Baroque artist who became the leading court painter in England after enjoying great succes in Italy and Flanders.
