Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Charles Turner' after 'William Beechey'. Charles Turner (1773-1857) was an English mezzotint engraver and draughtsman. Through his mother's influence he had access to the famous gallery at Blenheim Palace. Turner moved to London in about 1789 and was apprenticed to the engraver John Jones. Sir William Beechey (1753-1839) worked as a portrait painter.
