Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jacob Houbraken' after 'Jacob Xavery'. Jakob Houbraken (1698-1780) was a very productive Dutch 18th. Century engraver, who produced a great number of book-illustrations in the taste of the time. He also engraved many portraits and some prints after contemporary masters. Jacob Xavery (Dutch, 1736-1779) was a son and pupil of the sculptor Jan Baptist Xavery. He also trained with Jacob de Wit.
