Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jacob Matthias Schmutzer' after own design. Jacob Matthias Schmutzer / Schmuzer (1733-1811) was an Austrian designer and engraver from Vienna. He was the son of the engraver Andreas Schmutzer. He trained under Raphael Donner and in Paris with Wille. He and later worked in Vienna and became the director of the Academy founded by Maria-Theresia.
