Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Bernard Picart' after own design. Bernard Picart was born in Paris in 1673. He came from a family of printmakers and publishers. After 1700 he moved to Amsterdam, where he was active as printmaker and publisher. His prints in the "French" taste were very popular. His way of working was also very influential for the bookillustration in the Netherlands
