Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Proclamation des noms des Atheniens dévouess au Minotaure.' - ('The calling of the names of those selected from Athens to be sacrificed to the Minotaur'). The people of Athens are gathered en masse to hear who the 14 selected young noble citizens who are selected by drawing lots to be sacrificed to the Minotaur, in retribution for the death of Minos' son Androgeos. Several women have fainted and other show their despair clearly. To the left a woman implores a tall female figure clad much like Athena.
Condition: Very good, given age. No margins, very rare print. Margins minimally soiled and with some scattered light foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
