Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Crispyn de Passe' after own design. Crispyn de Passe was born in Arnemuide, Zeeland in 1565. He started engraving in Antwerp and was later active in Cologne and Utrecht. Being highly active he produced a large amount of prints, including a group of very finely engraved portraits.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Arcas in adversam sua spicula [..].' - Arcas attempting to kill Callisto. Undescribed second state of this print. Impression made around 1670.
Condition: Good, given age. Small margins, browned. Remains of paper from previous attachment on rear. Pencil on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
