Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Adriaen Collaert' after 'Hans Bol'. Adriaen Collaert (ca.15601618) was a Flemish designer and engraver. He was the son of Jan Collaert I and Anna van der Heijden. He married Justa Galle, the daughter of the man he worked for, Philip Galle. Adriaen Collaert was the brother of Jan Collaert I Hans Bol (Mechelen 1534-Amsterdam 1593) was a Flemish painter in the Northern Mannerist style. His early training was taken with his uncles who were also painters. He was then apprenticed to a watercolorist and tempera painter. Bol created numerous watercolours, as well as miniatures on vellum of his paintings (as his works were so often reproduced).
