Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Gerrit Groenewegen' after own design. Gerrit Groenewegen (1754-1826) started his career as a ships' carpenter. After an accident he lost a leg and was employed by Nicolaas Muijs. Groenewegen's knowledge of ships combined with a drawing talent produced very good depictions of marine subjectmatter.
